The Saint Michael Buyer's Guide: Pieces, Pricing & What's Worth It in 2026
Share
Saint Michael was a quiet collaboration between designers Hiroshi Fujiwara and Yoichi Kuwabara before it broke through globally in 2023. Now it's one of the most-searched brands on our site and one of the harder labels to buy clean. Here's what you need to know in 2026.
The four pieces that define the brand
Saint Michael's catalog is dense but four silhouettes account for most of the demand:
1. The Burning Long-sleeve Tee
The graphic that put the brand on the map — a back-printed religious motif with overdyed, vintage-washed cotton. Released in multiple colorways over the years. The vintage washed black and the cream variants are the most consistently in demand. Retail was $400-450; secondary market sits at $600-900 for clean used pairs in larger sizes.
2. The Brain Crewneck
A heavy cotton crewneck with a back-printed anatomical brain graphic. Slightly looser and more wearable than the long-sleeve tees. Retail was around $550; secondary sits at $700-1,000 depending on colorway. The black and the moss green are the strongest holds.
3. The 666 / Crucifix graphic tees
Shorter-sleeve versions of the religious graphic concept with various back prints. These are the entry point for the brand — retail around $300-350, secondary sits at $400-650. Easier to find in your size than the long-sleeves.
4. Hoodies and zip-ups
The bigger pieces — heavy hoodies and zip-front cardigans, usually with full-back graphics. These hit $700-900 retail and trade up to $1,100-1,500 used in clean condition. Less common at our shop because they don't come up as often.
How to spot fakes
Saint Michael fakes have improved sharply. Three fast checks:
- Wash and weight. Real Saint Michael cotton is heavy — 8oz minimum on tees, heavier on long-sleeves. The vintage washing is uneven on purpose. Lightweight, evenly-faded pieces are fakes.
- Graphic registration. Real prints sit centered to within a quarter inch and have a heavy hand-feel. Off-center prints or thin, smooth prints are fakes.
- Tags and care label placement. Real pieces have specific tag layouts that vary by production year — we keep reference photos and check every piece against them.
If you're not sure, bring the piece to us. We don't charge to authenticate items you're considering buying elsewhere.
What holds value
The Burning long-sleeves and Brain crewnecks have held steady or gone up in 2025-2026. Short-sleeve graphic tees have softened slightly as more colorways have released. Anything with a religious back graphic in a wearable, common size (M-XL) is the safest bet for retaining value. Loud colorways and oversized fits soften fastest.
What to skip
- Heavily-faded vintage washed pieces — fading degrades over time and these don't age well
- Smaller sizes (XS-S) — the resale market for Saint Michael skews larger, and small sizes sit longer
- Loud, season-specific colorways — neon and unusual washes don't hold value the way the core black/cream/grey pieces do

If you're buying your first Saint Michael piece
Start with a short-sleeve graphic tee in a core colorway (black, cream, or charcoal) in your true size. It's the cheapest entry into the brand, it'll get the most wear, and you'll learn quickly whether the heavy washes and oversized fits work for you before committing to a $900 long-sleeve.
